Salt Water Fish Tanks
If you’re just starting your aquarium then you’re probably trying to decide if you should get a freshwater or saltwater tank. So what’s the difference?
If you’re in the market for exotic looking fish then you’ll want a saltwater tank. Without question, the variety and beauty of saltwater fish is far superior to freshwater. However, with beauty comes a price. Saltwater tanks are more work and neglecting them will leave you with a dirty tank and lots of dead fish. The slightest change in temperature can cause a saltwater fish to get sick and die. That’s why most people don’t get a saltwater tank until they have fooled around with a freshwater one for a few years.
Freshwater tanks are better for the beginning fish tank owner. If you screw up the temperature or chemical balance a little or if you’re feeling lazy and don’t want to clean it, you’re fish will most likely still survive.
